Hiking in Idyllwild?

NOTE: An Adventure Pass/National Parks Pass is NOT a hiking permit.

THIS IS A HIKING PERMIT

A hiking permit is always required for day use or overnight use on these local Idyllwild trails:
Devils Slide**, Deer Springs, Southridge, Marion Mountain, Fuller Ridge, Seven Pines, & Spitler Peak
(Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail does not require a hiking permit.)

Visitor’s copy MUST be carried on your person while hiking.

Hiking permits are FREE and can be acquired at the Idyllwild Ranger Station:
54270 Pine Crest in Idyllwild (Hwy 243 & Pine Crest) 909-382-2921

Adventure Pass or National Parks pass is required for your car to park in Humber Park where the Devils Slide and Ernie Maxwell trail heads are located. (It is also required for parking at Lake Hemet, Lake Fulmor, and Fuller Mill Creek.)

**On Saturday and Sunday, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, the day-use permits for Devils Slide are restricted to thirty permits a day. This quota program limits the traffic on this trail and protects both the wilderness and the visitors’ wilderness experience. On those days, the permit must be stamped with “Devils Slide” and stamped with the current date to be valid. State Park day use permits are not valid on summer weekends for Devils Slide.
